| Probably the most important work that MAP does occurs after the program is formally over. All MAP graduates are entitled to access services and support for as long as they need them. MAP maintains an Alumni Center on the fourth floor of St. Francis House specifically for its graduates and participants, where they have access to staff, technology to do research and job hunting, and a welcoming setting to relax and stay connected. High-profile alumni events such as our annual Spring Boat Cruise, Summer Bar-b-que, Holiday Party, and Valentine’s Party/Tax Prep event are some of the ways we seek to maintain contact and provide continual access to the MAP staff and services of St. Francis House.
MAP staff receive more than 4,000 alumni phone calls, visits, letters and e-mails per year. These contacts include requests for help, notes of thanks, invitations to weddings and christenings, offers of help to the program, and frequent copies of resumes from alumni who want to work at MAP.
Since the second year of MAP’s existence, we have always had one or more alumni on staff. Through the generosity of a St. Francis House supporter we have recently been given the opportunity to hire an Alumni Coordinator, who will be able to develop new alumni services and extend our level of support. |
